The Manor is a community centred on spiritual activities and the exploration of the teachings of Theosophy, also known as Divine Wisdom or the Ageless Wisdom. The Manor is independent of other organisations, including The Theosophical Society, and is maintained through private funding.
The community was started in 1922 by Charles W. Leadbeater with the active support of a number of Theosophists in Sydney, including Karel Van Gelder, Gustaf Kollerström, J. J. van der Leeuw, and others.
The Manor community presents two seminars each year to T.S. members along with regular study classes, as outreach educational activities.
Well-known Theosophists who lived at The Manor over the years include: Charles W. Leadbeater, J. J. van der Leeuw, Ernest Wood, Russell Balfour-Clarke, Dora van Gelder Kunz, George S. Arundale, Rukmini Devi Arundale, Clara Codd, Helen Zahara, James Perkins, Kathryn Perkins, Jack Patterson and Joy Mills.
